India’s white-collar job market recorded an 11% year-on-year growth in June, driven by an uptick in hiring across key service sectors and a rebound in fresher recruitment, according to the latest Naukri JobSpeak Index.
The index rose to 2,854 in June 2025 from 2,582 a year ago, signaling broad-based hiring momentum.
Fresher hiring grew 11% year-on-year, with non-tech industries leading the charge.
The sharpest jumps in fresher hiring came from Hospitality (+40%), Oil & Gas (+29%), Real Estate (+25%) and Healthcare. Architecture and Interior Design (+74%), Advertising and PR (+44%), Consumer Durables (+42%), and Media and Entertainment (+40%) also reported significant gains in entry-level hiring.
“Fresher hiring in non-tech sectors continues to gain traction, reflecting expanding opportunities for young professionals,” said Pawan Goyal, chief business officer, Naukri.com.
Among sectors, Hospitality posted the highest overall hiring growth at 21%, followed by BPO/ITES (19%), Real Estate (16%), Oil & Gas (15%) and Healthcare (11%).
The IT sector, which had seen sluggish activity for nearly a year, recorded a 5% uptick in hiring in June, with the revival led by tier-II cities.
Baroda (+14%), Coimbatore (+10%), Kochi (+9%) and Ahmedabad (+8%) emerged as growth hubs.
Within IT, demand was strongest for professionals with over 16 years of experience, who saw a 16% rise in hiring.
“It was encouraging to see IT hiring turn positive after a muted spell, especially with strong demand emerging from tier-II cities,” Goyal added.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) roles continued their upward trajectory, logging a robust 42% year-on-year growth across industries.
Retail hiring remained mostly stable at +2% YoY, but several sub-sectors saw sharper growth. Consumer Durables grew 29%, Beauty & Wellness rose 14%, and Garments & Accessories were up 12%. Chennai led the Consumer Durables boom with 149% growth, followed by Bengaluru at 57%.
BPO/ITES maintained strong hiring momentum with a 19% overall increase. Hiring expanded across both metros and smaller cities—Jaipur (+64%), Baroda (+54%), Pune (+46%), and Bengaluru (+31%) posted notable gains.
The sector also registered a 23% increase in fresher hiring, with mid-level and senior roles growing 20% and 16%, respectively.
“What stood out in June was the sharp pickup in hiring across core service sectors like Hospitality and BPO/ITES,” said Goyal.
Notably, jobs in the highest salary bracket (₹20 LPA and above) saw a 24% increase in demand.
