Dhar's Artist Anup Shrivastava Showcases His Work At Alliance Française De Bhopal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Anup Shrivastava from Dhar has displayed 50 paintings inspired by the natural landscapes and rich indigenous cultures of Malwa and Nimar regions at Alliance Française de Bhopal.

The nine-day solo exhibition, When Colors Found Black, showcased landscape-inspired artworks on black canvas, delving into the delicate interplay of form, texture, and silence, along with approximately twenty small-scale pieces crafted with colour pencils, and several additional works.

The artist also exhibited four oil pastels. These paintings are based on Diwali market of Dhar where the market of decorative Diwali lights is seen. He also painted tribal youth and women shopping in Dhar.

His themes explore the diversity of these cultures, endangered species, ecology, and historical remnants, often capturing the unique beauty of riverscapes.

In recent years, his artistic focus has also extended into the vibrant festivals of central India, their customs, traditions and deep links with the ecology and landscape. He has participated in 25 art camp and art festivals.

“Through this series, I aim to present landscapes from a fresh perspective expressing the quiet energy of nature through the contrast of colour and darkness,” Shrivastava said. The exhibition will remain open for visitors till July 5.
