Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Two youths from Rajasthan were arrested when they came to the city allegedly to deliver MD drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore in the international market, police said on Sunday.
A bike was also seized from them and the crime branch officials are investigating the case to know the details of their aide in the crime.
DCP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi said that the crime branch team received information that two persons from Rajasthan would deliver the MD drugs to a person near the railway bridge on MR 4 Road. Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch reached the mentioned place and spotted two persons coming on a bike there. On seeing the police, they panicked and tried to flee but fell from the bike and got injured. The accused revealed their names as Naseeb Khan and Sahil Mansuri, the residents of Pratapgarh (Rajasthan).
During preliminary questioning, the accused informed crime branch officers that they had bought MD drugs from Rajasthan at cheap price and came to the city to supply it at higher price. During a search, about 255 grams of drugs was recovered from their possession.
According to crime branch officers, the value of the drugs is Rs 2.5 crore in the international market. A bike and two iPhones were also seized from the accused and a case was registered against them under section 8/22 of the NDPS Act. Police believed that their other aides were involved in the crime to sell drugs and to help them. The accused allegedly informed the officers that most of the people in their village in Rajasthan supply MD drugs.
DCP Tripathi informed the media persons that this year (from January 1 till date), the crime branch has taken action against 84 drug suppliers/peddlers in 46 cases and seized about 536 grams of brown sugar, more than 1 kilograms of MD drugs, 1.49 Kilograms of charas, 49.5 kilograms of ganja, 9.33 lakh alprazolam tablets, 5640 codeine syrups (the value of the entire drugs is worth Rs 11 crore in the international market).
