Peaky Blinders star, Charlie Murphy, is pregnant after five rounds of IVF. The Irish actress, 37, revealed her happy news after trying for a baby for two years.

Recalling the moment she found out she was to become a mum, the Co. Wexford native, who plays Jessie Eden in the series, said: "I was happy obviously, but I did have to remind myself not to celebrate too much. Maybe it was PTSD of doing a few rounds of IVF. That was gruelling. It was so intense that I was welcoming all the symptoms that come with a , I was just so happy to be out of the rounds."

Charlie, who has also appeared in BAFTA-winning series, , and Netflix's Obsession, and is in a long-term relationship with Agatha Christie Towards Zero director, Sam Yates, told the that her journey to motherhood had left her emotionally and financially 'drained'.

She explained: "'It felt like I was at the casino and throwing the dice to invest in another round, emotionally, financially and time-wise.

"And when the last couple of rounds didn't result in anything, I felt cheated. It felt tough, arduous and monotonous.

"At the start I probably would have been very private about doing IVF, but I'm glad that people are talking about it now. Reaching out to other women that have been through it means you don't feel so alone."

Charlie has been in a long-term relationship with British director Sam since 2019, and regularly shares snaps of the pair on .

The actress made her debut on series four of Peaky Blinders, playing shop steward, Jessie, at the Lucas factory in Sparkhill, Birmingham.

Jessie confronts gangster, Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, to bravely speak with him about equal pay for women across all his factories - warning him that she will encourage her colleagues to go on strike if he doesn't comply.

The powerhouse unionist eventually leads all female factory workers in Birmingham out on strike on the Bull Ring - protesting over poor conditions, lack of holidays, unsanitary toilets and lower pay.

Born in Ireland, the fourth of five children, to hairdresser parents, Charlie made her debut on TV in the critically acclaimed Love/Hate alongside Killian Scott and Robert Sheehan.

She then went on to appear in BBC smash-hit PeakyBlinders, before starring opposite Richard Armitage in the racy thriller, Obsession.

The show is an adaptation of the erotic novel Damage, which was made into a hit 1992 film with Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche, with critics calling it the 'sexiest thing on TV this year.'
