Nicole Kidman 'files for divorce' from Keith Urban as pair split after 19 years

Nicole Kidman has reportedly filed for divorce after the shock news she has split from husband Keith Urban. The pair had been married for 19 years but have revealed they are now going their separate ways.

Now, it has been reported Nicole was the one to pull the trigger on the divorce. It is not clear where she decided to file as the couple have homes in Los Angeles, Nashville and Australia.

It comes after reports suggested the duo had been living apart "since the beginning of summer". A source had told TMZ that singer Keith had "acquired his own residence in Nashville and moved out of their family home".

The publication also claimed that actress Nicole, 58, had been taking care of their two children and had been "holding the family together through this difficult time" since Keith had moved out. The Oscar winner was reportedly trying to save their marriage.

Nicole reportedly made several attempts to save their marriage, but Keith was already "done".

Their separation comes just months after the country singer revealed he had been forced to be away from his family due to his latest tour. Speaking to fans, he said: "Looking out from a stage and seeing people singing, forgetting about all the stress in their lives, cutting loose, and feeling ALIVE- that’s what it’s about for me.

"Lots of hits, new songs, things we won’t even think about until we’re onstage and loads of guitar. We’re gonna make this tour the best night of your life!”

Speaking of their relationship in 2014, Keith told Rolling Stone he was "very, very blessed" to have Nicole stage an intervention for him. It came after he had been released from rehab after three months and the couple moved to Nashville.

They then welcomed their first daughter - Sunday Rose - in 2008 and had a second two years later - named Faith - via gestational surrogacy.

Before meeting Keith, Nicole was married to Tom Cruise between 1990 and 2001. The couple adopted daughter Bella in 1993 and son Connor a few years later.

"Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour," a source has revealed. "There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce.

"They’ve been together for decades, so there is a world in which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, they are not a couple."

According to insiders, Keith initiated the separation, citing unhappiness in the marriage. "The intimacy isn’t there, they are just going through the motions [of being married].

"If this separation gets them back together, that would be amazing, but Keith had to call her out that he isn’t happy,” the source added to Daily Mail.
