Silent Witness star Liz Carr takes brutal swipe at BBC as she details career move

Actress Liz Carr didn't mince her words about the BBC during her recent appearance on Saturday Kitchen. In conversation with host Matt Tebbutt, the 53-year-old discussed her latest ventures, including her upcoming stage play, The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs, which debuts in early June.

She expressed her passion for performing in front of a live audience, saying: "My real love is being in front of an audience. It's the immediate feedback, it's the applause! The joy of laughter and connecting with people."

Liz also highlighted the benefits of rehearsing for a play, stating: "But, also if you go and do a TV series, you turn up on the first day and you start filming and you don't get rehearsals.

"Whereas with a play, you get a few weeks just to be together and work it out. I love that side of it."

However, she swiftly clarified that her preference for stage work has nothing to do with financial considerations.

Liz added: "Theatre never has any money, if you want money, do TV and films. Not on the ! Because that's, yeah.."

Matt responded with laughter, "I question that." Liz went on to explain that she enjoys theatre work due to the creative freedom it offers, saying it's exhilarating because it's live and anything can happen, reports .

The actress, who has arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, is known for her role as forensic examiner Clarissa Mullery on Silent Witness.

Discussing her departure from the show last year, Liz opened up to Radio Times, saying: "The job was a joy. Clarissa was very loved, and I don't take the experience or the support that I got in that role for granted at all.

"But I wanted to see who else I could play. Silent Witness took nine months a year, so it did cut out an awful lot of projects that I would have loved to do.

"I was starting to almost resent that, because I wanted to do other things."
