A man has been rushed to after being mauled by a during an early morning near a popular jetty.
The horrific incident happened at Port Noarlunga not far from the jetty on the South Australian beach at around 9.45am local time on Thursday, May 15. Emergency services rushed to the scene and swimmers were evacuated from the water for their own safey following the shark attack.
South Police has confirmed the man is in a serious condition but have not provided any further updates. Officers remain at the scene on the beach while they investigate. It is not clear what type of shark attacked the man or if it is still at large.

A police spokesperson uploaded a statment to saying: "Police are at the scene of a shark attack at Port Noarlunga. About 9.45am today (Thursday 15 May), emergency services were called to the Port Noarlunga jetty after reports that a man swimming in the water had been bitten by a shark.
"He was helped from the water and treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Swimmers have been evacuated from the water. Please avoid the area."

It comes after 32-year-old Bridgette O'Shannessy, was mauled by a white pointer shark while she and her partner were diving at Port Noarlunga in 2023. She survived, but had to undergo major surgery on both her head and face. Ms O'Shannessy was one of five people to be attacked by a shark in South Australian waters in 2023, with three not surviving their injuries.
Port Noarlunga is a picturesque seaside village located approximately 30 kilometres south of Adelaide and perfect to swim, kayak, snorkel, dive and fish. The red sandstone beach cliffs, long jetty and reef, make it one of the iconic diving destinations in the state.
