fans have been left reeling after finally discovering the identity of the original show's elusive Banker - only for a fresh mystery to emerge around the rebooted version. While many long assumed the man behind the voice on the original show was simply a backroom producer, it was revealed that the person on the other end of the phone from 2005 to 2016 was none other than Coronation Street actor Glenn Hugill.
Glenn, who played Detective Alan McKenna in the soap between 1996 and 1997, kept audiences in suspense for over a decade as the unseen voice pulling the strings opposite host Noel Edmonds. But when the beloved game show was revived by in 2023 with at the helm, a new Banker stepped in - and no one knows who it is. In a new interview, Mulhern confirmed that even he has been kept in the dark. "I don't know who the Banker is," he admitted. "So I wouldn't be able to recognise who it was - he could walk past me at any point."
Mulhern did confirm that the voice on the other end of the phone is "male," but gave no further details.
Adding to the intrigue, Stephen previously teased the Banker's return in a cheeky social media post earlier this year. Sharing a video of himself, he wrote: "Don't worry: Deal Or No Deal is coming back! The Banker's just gone off on holiday. Again.
"One of his cruises, I'd imagine, tormenting strangers over the buffet. I'll let you know when the new series is about to start so you don't miss a single dramatic moment!"
Meanwhile, fans have been revisiting Glenn Hugill's soap credentials, remembering his Corrie character Alan McKenna, who was due to marry Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin) until a one-night stand with Jim McDonald derailed the romance.
Glenn went on to work behind the scenes on various shows, running his own company Possessed, which he later sold to ITV before joining Jimmy Kimmel's production company, Wheelhouse.

He was also an executive producer on Deal Or No Deal, a revelation that disappointed some fans who believed the Banker should have remained a mystery entirely.
As the new era of the show continues, the secrets don't stop with the Banker. Earlier this year, contestant Nay Nay, 28, made headlines after winning a record-breaking £75,000 during an episode hosted by Mulhern.
The London-based paralegal applied for the show after growing up watching it with her mum. She stuck to her game plan and refused every offer from the Banker, opting to stay with her original box until the very end - and it paid off.
Speaking to MailOnline, Nay Nay also lifted the lid on what it's like behind the scenes, including how players are picked. "They're not actually sitting there when the names are turning... they move them there once you're selected to play," she said.
She added: "You will never actually know when it's your turn to play."
