GB News presenter Alex Armstrong erupted over the accidental release of Hadush Kebatu, 41, who was mistakenly released from prison on Friday. Armstrong began: "I'm pretty sick of having to sit at this desk and report to you, the law-obeying citizens of this country, about how broken this system really is."
He said the"latest humiliation" is about Kebatu, who has been "accidentally released from prison" and was at large in London for days. Armstrong fumed: "It's just a joke, isn't it? It's a complete joke, and I'm just furious about this. I can't believe this has been allowed to happen." The GB News reporter said the search for Kebatu began on Friday after Essex Police was alerted to a prison release error.
Armstrong continued: "Well, Kebatu is now sucking up hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of police time. He should have been back on a flight to Eithepodia - shouldn't he - with the rest of these illegals months ago. But instead, we have been housing him here in our already overflowing prisons."
Armstrong concluded: "My patience is at an end. I'm done giving chances to failed politicians and governments who are, at this point, wilfully putting the lives of the citizens of this country at risk."
However, The Met confirmed Kebatu had been arrested in the Finsbury Park area of London at around 8.30am this morning (October 26).
Commander James Conway, who oversaw the operation, said in a statement: "This has been a diligent and fast-paced investigation led by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police, supported by Essex Police and the British Transport Police.
"Information from the public led officers to Finsbury Park, and following a search, they located Mr Kebatu. He was detained by police, but will be returned to the custody of the Prison Service.
"I am extremely grateful to the public for their support following our appeal, which assisted in locating Mr Kebatu."
