Migrants coming to the UK on small boats are reportedly being offered free eye tests, dental treatment, and wigs from the NHS, while the general British public pay for their treatment. An NHS letter was discovered outside an asylum hotel that revealed that the migrants are entitled to free wigs.
The document, which was addressed to a migrant at the Derby hotel, shared how he and his partner will be given access to free NHS sight tests, prescriptions, dental treatment, glasses, wigs, and fabric supports. The letter come as a major blow to Keir Starmer's plan to bring down the levels of illegal immigration in the UK.
Recently, a migrant was photographed using a high-end smartphone to record himself while crossing the Channel from France to the UK in a dinghy.
The Government has vowed to crack down on people-smuggling gangs across the Channel. Crossings are at a record high for this point in the year, totalling 18,518.
Local retired machine worker Paul Davies, 67 told The Sun: "They are getting more benefits than we do.
"I have to pay for my own dental treatment and prescriptions."
The UK and France are in talks over a potential 'one-for-one' arrangement that would enable asylum seekers to reunite with family members already residing in the UK.
Under the proposed agreement, migrants who cross the English Channel in small boats could be returned to France, while the UK would accept individuals with valid claims to join family members already living there.
However, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP said: "We pay the French half a billion pounds to wave the boats off from Calais, and in return we get a migrant merry-go-round where the same number still come here.
"The French are failing to stop the boats at sea, failing to return them like the Belgians do, and now instead of demanding real enforcement, Labour are trying a one in, one out gimmick."
