William Morris fans might already be aware of the brand's collaboration with Habitat. The homeware collection has been around for some time, encompassing everything from bedding to chairs. However, most recently, it has undergone a seasonal refresh, with lots of new colours and patterns. While the designer is often associated with luxury textiles, the Habitat collection offers a more affordable way to introduce the iconic prints into your home.
I'm a big fan of the bedding in the collection, as it's perfect for the cosy season, but also because it's a fraction of the price of the bedding available directly from Morris & Co. There's a wide selection of William Morris prints, and the best part is they are made from natural fibres like cotton. The same applies to the throws included in the range.
From the new collection, a specific throw has caught my eye for its dramatic print and autumn-ready colours. Plus, it offers real savings compared to shopping directly at Morris & Co.
The Habitat x Morris & Co. Blackthorn Throw is priced at £40, while throws on the Morris & Co. website retail anywhere from £165 to £275.
It's a lovely woven throw decorated with Morris' well-known Blackthorn pattern, which showcases bright pink and red foliage with white flowers and green leaves, printed against a dark background. It also has curved edges, trimmed with a matching fringe. According to the brand, it's inspired by original tapestries found at Wightwick Manor, where Morris used to live.
The Blackthorn throw's colour palette is great for autumn and winter, but as it's reversible, with a paler pattern on the other side, I reckon it could work for all seasons. It's made from 100% cotton and would look really nice draped across a sofa or the back of an armchair. I could also imagine it as a picnic blanket, and even a wall hanging, as a nod to its tapestry style.
Fans are already praising the throw online, with one complimenting the "beautiful embroidery". They added: "Honestly one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever purchased. The quality reflects the price."
Another shopper said: "A beautiful throw, the reverse is as lovely as the front, so pleased with it."
However, there may be one potential drawback as it only comes in one size, measuring 125x150cm. If you're looking for something larger to use in bed, the Habitat x Morris & Co. range features more options, such as a quilted bedspread in the Pimpernel pattern, which can be purchased to complement the matching duvet set we featured last week.
