
Jack Pinnington Jones pulled off a stunning Wimbledon win to make it a magnificent seven men through to the second round. The 22-year-old celebrated his first ever singles match at a Grand Slam with a shock triumph over Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
There were jubilant scenes on Court 17 as Pinnington Jones lapped up the adulation of the home crowd, which included several of his friends from home.
He produced a sensational finish, which saw him win five games in a row to complete a 6-7 (4-7) 3-6 5-7 straight sets victory. And in the process help the British players complete a piece of history at SW19.
The result means he becomes the 10th Brit to reach the next round, which equals the best haul this century.
While seven men in the second round is the biggest total this century, and also equals the Open era record.
