Incorporating fish into your weekly meals is a brilliant idea. According to the NHS, a healthy diet should include two portions of fish a week, with at least one of them an oily fish like salmon or sardines.
Salmon offers a wealth of heart-friendly omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. However, eating a plain piece of seared, baked, or grilled salmon can become monotonous over time. The key to creating that mouth-watering salmon you're yearning for lies in the seasonings. One culinary expert has revealed her go-to recipe for "juicy" salmon on Simply Recipes, which takes less than 20 minutes. Even better, you only need one main ingredient to infuse the fish with tonnes of flavour.
Having experimented with "so many recipes" over the years, culinary expert Jessica Furniss has discovered her "all-time favourite way to make salmon", and it's "simple" - it's a Mediterranean-inspired recipe.
All you require are salmon fillets and shop-bought Greek dressing for the "juiciest, most flavour-packed" salmon.
One of the best features of this recipe is that it can be whipped up in less than 20 minutes. After smearing Greek dressing onto the salmon fillets, allow them to marinate in the fridge for five minutes.
Fish is more delicate compared to other types of meat, and it can become mushy if marinated for too long. Jessica prefers a five-minute marinade to ensure the salmon stays "tender and flaky".
How to cook salmon without butter or oilYou will need:
- Salmon fillets
- Salt and pepper
- Lemon juice
- Medium-sized frying pan
- Baking paper
Method:
To begin place a sheet of baking paper on your frying pan, and cut the paper to the size of the pan. Make sure to hold the baking paper inside the pan to get rid of any excess paper.
While the fish is marinating, lightly oil a baking tray and preheat it in the oven.
By adding a tablespoon of oil to the baking tray and allowing it to heat in the oven for five minutes prior to introducing the salmon, you can achieve a "crunchy, crispy skin".
Then, position the fish (skin-side down) onto the hot, oiled baking tray and bake it for 12 to 13 minutes. To create a more sophisticated crust on top, switch your oven to the grill setting during the final three minutes.
