Netflix is set to thrill fans this month by introducing Christopher Nolan's illustrious film, Oppenheimer, to its roster.
The eye-opening biopic, featuring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, arrives on the streaming giant on July 12.
Within this WWII epic, audiences will follow the tale of the young physicist who is recruited by Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. (played by Matt Damon) for the clandestine Manhattan Project.
The film's synopsis offers insight into the gripping narrative as it reads: "Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world's first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history."
After it was released, critics showered the film with commendations, and it went on to seize the prestigious Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars, reports Surrey Live.
Cillian Murphy clinched the Oscar for leading role and his fellow cast member, Robert Downey Jr. was honoured with the best supporting actor title for playing Lewis Strauss.
The movie earned a total of 13 Oscar nominations and took home an impressive seven awards across various accolades such as Director, Cinematography, Film Editing and Original Score.

Someone else was deeply moved, stating: "I must confess, my expectations were high, but little did I anticipate the sheer emotional impact this cinematic masterpiece would leave on my soul."

"An absolute masterpiece, the actors, the score, the visuals, and the story. Must watch!", hailed another.
Cillian Murphy expressed profound gratitude upon receiving his Oscar, heaping praise on those he worked with for the film.
In his speech, Cillian remarked: "I'm a little overwhelmed. Thank you to the Academy. Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, it's been the wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey you've taken me on over the last twenty years. I owe you more than I can say."

During his acceptance moments, Cillian showed appreciation for his colleagues and loved ones, expressing admiration to his fellow category nominees and commending their work.
He continued: "Yvonne McGuinness, my partner in life and art. My two boys, Malachy and Aran, who are sitting up there. I love you so much. And I'm a very proud Irish man standing here tonight, so.... You know, we made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb, and for better or for worse we're all living in Oppenheimer's world.
"So I would really like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere. Go raibh mile maith agat."
