Netflix is set to premiere a brand new series this week featuring the late Liam Payne.
The streaming giant's experimental series promises a musical thrill where 50 hopeful vocalists will compete in auditions to form bands, but there's a catch. In a twist rivalled by few, the singers will perform their auditions concealed within private booths, blind to each other's identities.
Entrants will be hoping to find the ultimate band members, relying solely on the sounds, compatibility, and connection they share. But not all will make it.
From the original 50, only six bands will emerge - but only one will be crowned the winner. Netflix tantalises audiences with the promise of "Plenty of drama, next level artistry and unforgettable performances."
Starting Wednesday, July 9, 'Building the Band' will launch, bringing new episodes weekly over a three-week span. They will show everything from the blind auditions and band formation to rehearsal dramas and performances. Here's when you can expect the episodes to be released:
- Week One on Wednesday, July 9 will see the release of episodes 1-4
- Week Two on Wednesday, July 16 will see the release of episodes 5-7
- Week Three on Wednesday, July 23 will see the release of episodes 8-10.
Performers take the reins, making pivotal decisions ranging from selecting bandmates to defining their band's name and style. But not everything will be smooth sailing.
Hosting the brand new series is none other than Backstreet Boys icon AJ McLean, who will provide his seasoned insight and support throughout the competition.
Adding to the star-studded affair, Nicole Scherzinger will appear as a judge and mentor to the performers, offering her support and criticism.
The star will be accompanied by guest judges Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne, whose family have given the series their blessing, Netflix confirmed. And ahead of the show, tributes have come pouring in.
Following the release of a teaser by Netflix, fans shared their views, with one writing: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this TV show! It will be special for all viewers to watch the talented @LiamPayne , who looks divine in the trailer... Thank you sooo much!".
Another fan commented: "Don't know how I'm gonna get through this without crying when I just cried watching the trailer. RIP Teddy Bear. We love and miss you so much."
Building the Band episodes 1-4 will be released on July 9.
